College Volleyball Players: Panthers Add Michigan State Transfer Elizabeth Egerer To Roster
Sheboygan native has three years of eligibility remaining
MILWAUKEE - Elizabeth Egerer of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., is transferring from
Michigan State to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will play
volleyball, head coach Susie Johnson announced today.
Egerer was a freshman last season in East Lansing after a standout career at
Sheboygan Christian High School. She was among the Top 150 players in the
country as a senior, while she collected a state-record 2,225 kills in her
four years of high school.
The 5-foot-11 outside hitter has received her release from Michigan State,
making her eligible immediately. She will have three years of eligibility
remaining.
"We're really excited to be getting Elizabeth," Johnson said. "She is a
strong outside hitter who also has good ball control and good defense. It is
a great thing any time you are able to get a Big Ten-type of player that is
very physical. We are so happy to have her be part of our program and she is
very happy to be coming back to her home state."
Egerer was a three-time all-state honoree while claiming all-conference and
all-area honors in all four years of her high school career. In addition to
her career kills record, she also holds the state record for kills in a
single season (815) and is the school-record holder for career digs (900)
and aces (322).
On the club side, Egerer played for the Fond du Lac Club for six years and
Fox Cities Elite for three. She competed at the USA Volleyball High
Performance A-2 Camp and was also chosen as a member of the USA Volleyball
Badger Region High Performance Team three times.
In the classroom, Egerer earned high honors in all four years of high
school.
This past season at Michigan State, Egerer played in 11 sets, collecting
nine kills.
Egerer joins a Panther squad that returns five of its seven starters from a
season ago. UWM battled back from a slow start to claim the Horizon League
Tournament title and a second-straight NCAA Tournament berth.
