But just how did Concordia (of California), a team with just one winning season in its conference history, 20 years ago -- that went 15-19 last year, and 6-14 in their conference -- wind up 16-0 and ranked #6 about halfway through this season?
Concordia head coach
Paula Weishoff and assistant coach Eric Olson
Chalk it up to one legendary player who finally got her chance. After a stint at alma mater USC that saw her elevated to associate head coach of the defending national NCAA Division I champions last year, followed by a quick resignation to accept the
Concordia head coaching position, Paula Weishoff has effected what is likely the most profound turnaround in all of collegiate women’s volleyball this season.
Paula Weishoff, a seven-year assistant coach for the back-to-back national champion USC women's volleyball team, has been promoted to associate head coach, head coach Mick Haley announced today.
First hired as the second assistant under former USC head coach Lisa Love in 1997,
Weishoff became the program's top assistant when Haley took over in 2001. She was promoted to assistant head coach prior to the start of the 2003 season.

2 Olympic medals
Weishoff has brought Concordia to the forefront of NAIA volleyball.
"If bread crumbs were left to trail the traveling path of Paula Weishoff of Concordia University (Calif.) as a volleyball player and coach, followers would pick up a bit of history and success with each morsel left behind.
Weishoff, the only American to win two Olympic women's indoor volleyball medals, is viewed as one of the greatest female players the world has witnessed as a dominating middle blocker and server.
Paula Weishoff is one of only four American female volleyball players to earn spots on three different Olympic rosters. She led Team USA to a silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games staged in Los Angeles. After a break from international competition, she sparked the U.S. to a bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games as she was awarded the most valuable player award for the tournament. Weishoff's attempt for a third Olympic medal was foiled in 1996 as the U.S. finished seventh in Atlanta.
