DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the fifth time in the past six seasons, the AVCA announced Tuesday.
First instituted in 1992, the AVCA Team Academic Award goes to collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.00 for the academic year, a mark that Duke has maintained in each of the past three seasons. Duke also received the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 academic years.
Duke was one of 71 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball programs to receive the honor this season and one of 409 teams overall. The 409 awards were the most in the 17-year history of the AVCA Team Academic Award.
