After Winning Offensive Player Of the Week Honors In Her First Week, Fletemier Attains Defensive Accolade
PHILADELPHIA – University of Dayton All-American middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week after posting 15 blocks and helping the Flyers improve their undefeated streak to 9-0.
Fletemier combined for three solo blocks and 12 block assists on the weekend and was named MVP of the Dayton Flyer Classic for her play on both sides of the ball. She had seven total blocks against the Samford Bulldogs and four against UConn and Creighton.
In addition to Defensive honors, Fletemier was a strong candidate for the Offensive Player of the Week award. The Garden City, Mich. native averaged 3.58 kills per set and posted a .407 attack percentage on the weekend.
The Flyers, who received 58 votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, are off to their best start since 2007 when they won 21 of their first 22 games. Dayton will face a tough test at the Michigan/adidas invitational taking on No. 6 Michigan, Oregon State and Marquette. UD will open against Oregon State at 11:00 a.m. ET.
