Marshall’s 7-0 Record is Best Start in Program History
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University volleyball team will take on North Carolina A&T and UNC Greensboro on Tuesday and Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C., in the midst of a 10-day, eighth-match road trip.
North Carolina A&T enters the match against the Herd with a 0-7 record on the season. The most recent match for the Aggies, came in a loss to the University of Louisiana Monroe (16-25, 13-25, 19-25). NC A&T is led offensively by Tiffany Mellete (1.71 kills-per-set), while Janae Mitchell and Stacey Malone patrol the defensive side, averaging 2.81 and 2.71 digs-per set, respectively. Following the match with the Aggies, the Herd will play at UNC Greensboro (4-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Spartans are coached by former MU assistant Patrick Nicholas.
Catherine Hammers has been the leader for the Spartans offense. She was named Southern Conference Player of the Week on Sept. 8, after she averaged 4.29 kills-per-set to help guide UNCG to a 3-1 record last week.
The Herd (7-0) travels to Greensboro from High Point, N.C., where the club captured the High Point University Classic championship by defeating Davidson, Charlotte and the tournament-host High Point, during the weekend.
Elizabeth Fleming was named Conference USA Setter of the Week, along with earning the HPU Classic MVP. Emily Sullivan joined Fleming on the all-tournament team, her second tournament honor she has earned this season.

Following the two matches in Greensboro, the Herd will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to play in the Carolina Classic from Sept. 11-12. The tournament consists of Colorado State, North Carolina and Tennessee.
