UT Arlington College Volleyball Team Names Lindsay Scanlon As Volleyball Assistant Coach
ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington head volleyball coach Diane Seymour announced that Lindsay Scanlon has been added to the Mavericks coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Seymour, who is entering her seventh season as head coach, 11th year assistant coach Erin Clute and Scanlon make up the Mavericks coaching staff for the upcoming season.
Scanlon, who is originally from Rockwall, Texas, spent the four previous years as the starting setter at Arkansas, where she graduated last spring with a double major in criminology and sociology.
She finished her collegiate volleyball career with the Razorbacks as the school’s third all-time leader in career assists (2,825) and ranks fifth in career assists per set (7.12).
She led the team in 2009 with 971 assists while playing in 27 matches (all starts) with 60 kills, a .259 hitting percentage, 170 digs and 39 total blocks (0.39 bps). She notched a career-high 60 assists during her senior season against Alabama (10/9/09), which marked the fourth highest total in the Southeastern Conference. Also during her senior campaign, she was awarded the SEC Community Service Award.
Scanlon was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient and recorded at least 400 assists in all four seasons while playing in over 300 sets during her Razorback career.
She was a two-sport standout in high school (Rockwall HS) also excelling in basketball. She was a four-time all-district selection in volleyball and was named the district MVP as a senior in 2005. In addition, Scanlon played for the Dallas Force club team earning MVP honors following her senior year. She helped the Force to three consecutive national championships in 2004-06.
Scanlon also played on the Rockwall HS basketball team that made an appearance at the state tournament.
She is one of three siblings who played collegiate volleyball, joining sisters Jennifer (UT-Pan American) and Stephanie (Centenary College) while both parents, played basketball at Texas A&M-Commerce, and her grandfather played basketball at Iowa.
