Tulsa extends winning streak to 18; Powell surpasses 1,000 career kills and digs.
IRVING, Texas - Tulsa continued its impressive winning streak by picking up its 18th straight victory, including nine against Conference USA opponents, at East Carolina on Sunday. It's the third-best overall winning streak in league history and nine-straight league wins is also the seventh-best streak in Conference USA annals.
SMU wrapped up a strong weekend with a pair of wins to hold onto its second-place league standing. The Mustangs defeated ECU and Marshall. Southern Miss was also winner of two with victories against UCF and UTEP.
Houston bounced back from its 3-2 loss at Memphis Friday by sweeping UAB Sunday. Rice and UCF split matches over the weekend as the Owls lost to UAB (3-2) and defeated Memphis (3-1). The Knights were in a battle in both of their outings as each went to five sets. UCF lost to Southern Miss and picked up a win at Tulane.
