Washington State University Volleyball Team: Cougars Begin Second Half Of Pacific-10 Conference Play
The Washington State University volleyball team (6-13 overall, 0-9 Pac-10) hits the road to take on No. 8 USC (17-3, 6-3) Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Galen Center, and after a day off in LA, meets No. 11 UCLA (15-5, 5-4) Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion...both matches will be on GameTracker online and on radio.
LAST TIME: Oct. 1 & 2 in Pullman, WSU lost to No. 12 UCLA (25-17, 25-16, 25-17)...Bruins hit .262 and held WSU to .057...Meagan Ganzer led WSU (11 kills, 4 blocks), Oceana Bush (6 kills, 8 digs)...UCLA’s Dicey McGray and Bojana Todorovic combined for 24 kills...No. 5 USC defeated WSU 25-15, 25-17, 25-19... Ganzer (14 kills, 3 blocks, 6 digs), Conley Kipp (5 kills, 5 blocks), Bush (14 digs)...USC was led by Alex Jupiter (19 kills, .516, 3 aces, 6 blocks).

GANZER IS COUGS’ OFFENSIVE WEAPON
Junior outside hitter Meagan Ganzer (Black Diamond, Wash.) is third in the Pac-10 with a 5.12 kills per set average (5th nationally) and 5.77 points per set (5th nationally)...Ganzer has tallied three 30-point matches this season...tallied double-digit kills in all 19 matches this season and ended 2009 season with four double-figure matches...has 812 career kills...Ganzer played the NCAA No. 1 offensive player, Tulsa’s Tyler Henderson (6.55 kps and 7.05 pps), No. 2 Stanford’s Alix Klineman (5.75 kps) and No. 4 Cal’s Tarah Murrey (5.22 kps).
COUGAR COACHING STAFFHead Coach Andrew Palileo is in his third season at WSU...returned Cougars to NCAA Championship tournament in 2009...Palileo has a 34-45 overall record at WSU, and a 14-year career record of 273-186…named 2009 Pac-10 Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to their first winning season (18-13) since 2002, with six league wins, the most since 2002…associate head coach Brian Lamppa (third season)...assistant coach Jennifer Fry (first season)...Kara Kiefer, coordinator of operations (second season)...Tina Martin, volunteer coach (second season).

ABC PINK CAMPAIGN & BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MATCH
For the ninth consecutive year, the WSU volleyball team conducted the Attacking Breast Cancer (ABC) Pink Campaign to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse (Bosom Buddies)…raised over $2600 in 2009, bringing the 8-year total donation to $11,405...team will be acceptiong donations through the month of October...to donate, contact Kara Kiefer (509-335-7169) or Jen Fry (509-335-0275) in the volleyball office.
