Pairings Set For 2010 Horizon League Volleyball Tournament
UWM hosts, opens play Saturday afternoon
MILWAUKEE - The pairings for the 2010 Horizon League Volleyball Tournament in Milwaukee have been officially released by the league office.
Milwaukee (20-8, 15-1 Horizon), the regular season league champion, already knew it would open play Saturday at 1 p.m. in a semifinal contest against the lowest remaining seed. But, following the conclusion of play this past weekend, the other five spots in the tournament field have been decided.
Butler is the second seed and will also receive a bye into the semifinals. The Bulldogs (19-9, 13-3), the only league team to beat the Panthers this season, will play in the second semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Friday's action pits third-seeded Cleveland State (21-6, 11-5) against sixth-seeded UIC (13-17, 7-9) at 4:30 p.m., while fourth-seeded Valparaiso (24-7, 10-6) squares off with fifth-seeded Green Bay (12-18, 8-8) at 7 p.m.
The championship match is Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Panthers head into the weekend seeking their third-straight tournament title. Milwaukee is also looking for its ninth NCAA Tournament berth.
