Pac-12 Volleyball Season Schedule Announced

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The 2012 Pac-12 volleyball season is slated to begin Friday, August 24. Eleven of the Conference’s 12 squads open their campaigns that Friday, including defending NCAA Champion UCLA, who travels to Nebraska for a regular-season tournament. Among the features of the 2012 campaign are 82 live-match coverage on the Conference’s Pac-12 Networks set to launch this summer.
The Conference is coming off another successful season which saw the Bruins win the national championship, USC make a second-straight trip to the national semifinals and seven teams earn NCAA Tournament bids. The Trojans earned the league’s automatic bid, winning a Conference-record 20 matches.
Also on the schedule are four exhibition games versus the Jiangsu Chinese team. USC (Aug. 28), UCLA (Aug. 29) and Stanford (Sept. 5) will host the team on the Pac-12 Network. Arizona will play the Chinese squad on Sept. 1 at the Pepperdine Tournament.
Pac-12 play begins on Tuesday, Sept. 18 with two matches on the Pac-12 Network. The Wildcats will travel to face their rival Arizona State, while Washington hosts rival Washington State. The final week of Conference action features 13 matches over four days during the week of Nov. 19, including 11 matches on the Conference’s television networks.
The NCAA Tournament begins with first- and second-round action the weekend of Nov. 29-Dec. 1. The winning teams advance to one of four regional sites, including at site at California’s home court in Berkeley, Calif., the weekend of Dec. 6-8. The national champion will be decided the weekend of Dec. 13-15 in Louisville, Ky.
