Phil Bush to Broadcast Six (6) World League Matches for
International Volleyball Federation’s World League
Six (6) Countries in Six (6) weeks for Veteran Broadcaster
ATLANTA, GA – Veteran Broadcaster Phil Bush has been tapped for the 3rd year to be the lead broadcaster for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World League Match of the Week.
Bush has handled the Play-By-Play for the Intercontinental Round of this event for the last 2 years. World League format calls for 6 weeks of Pool Play, with the top teams moving on to the Finals, which this year will be in Argentina. The Broadcast goes to more than 100 countries around the world either live or on Tape Delay.
Bush has broadcast Volleyball with FSN South, ESPNU, SportsSouth, CSS and with Georgia Tech via ISP over the past 14 years. “It is a great honor to be handling this broadcast for World League once again,” said Bush. “This year, the FIVB has spread the “Match of the Week” literally all over the world. Anyone having a chance to see these matches will be seeing Olympic caliber Volleyball. When I’m doing World League, it’s not unusual to have crowds of 10,000 to 18,000 in the building. The atmosphere is absolutely Electric.”
This year’s Match of the Week Broadcast is phenomenal in its reach. Bush will travel 6 weekends in a row to Volleyball hotbeds including Brazil, Finland, Cuba, Poland, Korea and Serbia. “It’s a challenging schedule, but is rewarding to know that I am allowed to broadcast these matches to a wide audience,” said Bush.
World League is the biggest Volleyball Event annually, featuring 16 of the top Men’s Teams from around the world battling for a purse of $25 million dollars. Brazil has won the title 7 times in the 21 year history of the World League.
This year, the FIVB is working on having certain Broadcasts of the Match of the Week and some portion of the Finals live on the Internet, so those Fans who want to see the action live will be able to do. Information on the Web Broadcasts will be available at www.fivb.org.
