Oregon State Volleyball Completes Spring Season with Four Set Sweep of Western Washington
Corvallis, Ore. – Sophomore Camille Saxton (Balzac, Alberta) racked up a team-high 18 kills in volleyball’s Saturday evening sweep of Western Washington in legendary Gill Coliseum. The event drew over 3,500 fans and was in conjunction with the Willamette Volleyball Classic.
Oregon State defeated the Vikings in set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14.
Saxton only had a pair of errors on 44 total attack attempts, adding an ace, four blocks and seven digs. Overall, the Beavers had 52 kills, three aces and 43 digs.
Defensively, greenshirt freshman Becky Defoe (Bend, Ore.) was the lone player to reach double digits on defense with 10 digs. Sophomore Alyssa O’Neil (West Linn, Ore.) was close behind with eight. At the net, middle blockers senior Kiersten Sambrailo (Watsonville, Calif.) and sophomore Tami Brown (Eugene, Ore.) combined for seven blocks each.
The Beavers open up the 2010 season at home in the Corvallis Invitational, hosting Sacramento State, Illinois State and Portland in a two-day tournament beginning on Friday, Aug. 27. Season tickets are available for purchase now by calling the Oregon State Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-GOBEAVS.
