Bowling Green State Volleyball Releases 2010 Schedule
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program has released its 2010 schedule, featuring six matches against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The Falcons will compete in four pre-conference tournaments before embarking on a rigorous 16-game Mid-American Conference schedule.
The Falcons will open the season at the Michigan State Invitational Aug. 27-28 and will play the host school right out of the gate. Michigan State advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago and BGSU will also play Evansville and IUPUI during the weekend.
The following weekend will be the Falcons’ biggest test as the team travels to Gainesville for the Florida Invitational. BGSU will play Colorado State, a team that ended No. 17 in the country a year ago, and Florida, a team that ended No. 15 in the country in 2009, along with Albany.
Bowling Green will finally return home to play its final season in Anderson Arena by hosting the Best Western Falcon Plaza Invitational Sept. 10-11. The Falcons will play Cornell, IPFW, and Oakland in the event. IPFW will be the squad’s fourth match against a team that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2009.
The Falcons will then play Wright State at home on Sept. 14 before heading east for the final pre-conference tournament of the year, the Pittsburgh Invitational. The Falcons will see St. Francis (Pa.), Pittsburgh, Eastern Illinois, and Robert Morris as tune-ups for MAC play.
The team will be on the road during the first weekend of conference action, playing at Akron and Buffalo on Sept. 24 and 25. The team will host Western Michigan on Oct. 2 for Alumnae Day and the volleyball All-Anderson Team will be honored during that match. BGSU will host Toledo on Oct. 22 for Pink Out Night and will host Buffalo on Oct. 29 for Parents Night. The Falcons will host Akron the next day for Senior Day before closing the regular season with four road conference games. The MAC Tournament will begin Nov. 16 and run through Nov. 21.
