SMU Mustangs Volleyball Team Sweep ECU Pirates, 3-0
DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU volleyball team swept East Carolina 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) on Sunday afternoon at Moody Coliseum. With the win, the Mustangs move to 22-5 overall and maintain second place in Conference USA with a 13-2 league record.
Jessica Oliver led the Mustangs with 13 kills and only committed one error (.462 hitting percentage). Outside hitter Dana Powell and middle blocker Courtney Manning also provided SMU with solid performances finishing with 11 and eight kills, respectively. As a team, the Ponies finished with a .359 hitting percentage (the best total since Sept. 3), while holding the Pirates (1-25, 0-14 CUSA) to a .226 clip.
Setter Kelli Becerra narrowly missed a double-double finishing with a match-high 37 assists and tied for a team-high with nine digs.
Kathryn Wilkerson, who is SMU's all-time program leader in digs, finished with nine digs in the match. Wilkerson added in seven kills and a block for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs face road matches at UTEP and UCF next weekend. SMU defeated each of the teams in its matchups earlier this season.
