University of Denver Volleyball Team: Pioneers Top Trojans 3-1 in SBC Volleyball Action
Freshman Colleen King led the Pioneers with a career-high 18 kills
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Led by a career-high 18 kills from freshman Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) the University of Denver volleyball team (14-16, 8-7 SBC) defeated the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans (5-18, 3-10 SBC) 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18) on Sunday afternoon in the Jack Stephens Center in Little-Rock, Arkansas.
Along with her 18 kills, the right-side hitter also finished with 10 digs and five blocks, while freshman Alex Turgeon (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) finished with 17 kills and 14 digs. Also finishing with double-digit kills was junior Alyssa Bonelli (Superior, Colo.) with 13, while also tallying six digs and four blocks.
Senior setter Kresson Vreeman (Raymond, Minn.) led the team with a season-high 53 assists, to go along with 12 digs, three blocks and six kills. Defensively, senior libero Kacie Wikierak (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and sophomore Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) finished with 21 digs each.
Paige Gantar led the Trojans with 11 kills, while Daniele Souza Moura added 10 kills.
Denver closes out the regular season on Friday, Nov. 12 at the University of North Texas at 6 p.m. MT.
