Ashley Herzberg Named Academic All-MAC
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green sophomore defensive specialist Ashley Herzberg was one of 18 student-athletes named to the 2010 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team Monday, as voted on by faculty athletic representatives as league institutions.
In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s matches. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residency are not eligible for the award.
Herzberg played in 31 of the team’s 32 matches, starting 14 times as a defensive specialist. Her .932 serve percentage and .953 serve receive percentage were both second on the team. She was one of five players with at least 100 digs on the season, finishing with 130 for an average of 1.49 per set. She had a season-high 13 digs against Eastern Michigan and finished with double-digit dig totals three times.
