Volleyball Player Tayla Woods Honored at Oregon Sports Awards
Portland, Ore. – Redshirt freshman Tayla Woods (Corvallis, Ore.) was named the recipient of the Johnny Carpenter Female Prep Athlete of the Year 4A-1A at the 59th Annual Oregon Sports Awards on Sunday evening inside the Stanford Theatre at the Nike World Headquarters.
Woods, a 5-11 setter for the Oregon State volleyball team, garnered 3A Player of the Year and PacWest Conference Player of the Year awards in basketball, as well as being unanimously named to the All-Tournament First Team in 2010. She led the Santiam Christian basketball team to a runner-up finish in the state tournament after leading the volleyball team to a state title. Woods was named the 2009 OSAA 3A Volleyball Player of the Year.
Woods joined 21 other award recipients at the award banquet, hosted by Ahmad Rashad. Former Oregon State baseball player, Darwin Barney, was also involved in the event, presenting an award.
