Texas Volleyball promotes Salima Rockwell to Associate Head Coach
After serving two seasons as an assistant on the Texas Volleyball staff, Salima Rockwell has been promoted to associate head coach by head coach Jerritt Elliott.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball head coach Jerritt Elliott has promoted Longhorns assistant Salima Rockwell to associate head coach, a position she will assume after spending her first two seasons on the Forty Acres as an assistant on Elliott’s staff.
“Salima has established herself as one of the premier coaches in the country and we are thankful that our administration supported the idea of promoting her to associate head coach,” Elliott said. “We are thankful and lucky that she is with our program. Her promotion is well deserved and we are glad she will be with our program for awhile.”
The 2011 season marks Rockwell’s third season at Texas, working with the team’s setters and as the Horns’ recruiting coordinator.
Rockwell helped lead Texas’ 2009 and 2010 squads to back-to-back NCAA Semifinal appearances, including a championship match berth in her first season. The Longhorns’ 2010 squad finished 27-6 and ranked fourth nationally in the final poll.
As the team’s recruiting coordinator, Rockwell helped Elliott land the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2009 and 2010.
