LADY VOL VOLLEYBALL ADDS STEPHANIE STOLL TO 2011 ROSTER
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee volleyball program has added another potential impact player to its roster for the 2011 campaign, welcoming middle blocker Stephanie Stoll from the University of Washington.
“The first thing that jumps out about Stephanie is her athletic ability,” UT Head Coach Rob Patrick said. “She is a dynamic jumper that will immediately help us along the net defensively. She is already a very physical blocker and we are excited about her offensive potential as well.
“Another thing that we are excited about is the fact that she has already been in a division-1 gym at Washington, understands the pace of the college game and has scrimmaged against some high-level players for the past year. That will only make the process of getting her acclimated to our system easier than it normally would for an incoming freshman.”
A native of Bellevue, Wash., Stoll redshirted as a member of a UW squad that reached the NCAA National Quarterfinals last season. A 6-2 middle blocker, she will join the program this summer as a redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility.
Stoll prepped at Issaquah High School where she helped lead the Eagles to a district title and fifth place at the Washington State 4A Championships as a senior. Stoll was voted first team All-King County and second team all-state, as well as to the Seattle Times All-Star Team after recording 295 kills and 80 blocks during her senior campaign.
She also played for Sudden Impact Volleyball Club in Bellevue from 2008-10, competing in the 2010 Junior Nationals in Reno, Nev., and the 2009 Junior Olympics in Miami Beach, Fla. In addition to playing volleyball, Stoll lettered twice in track and field and qualified for the Junior Olympics in both long and high jump, as well as hurdles.
Stoll also has a background in soccer and gymnastics and was a three-time scholar athlete. Her twin sister, Lindsay, plays soccer at Washington State University.
