University of Arizona Volleyball Signing Class Ranked Eleventh Nationally
Prepvolleyball.com lists Arizona’s 2011 six-player incoming class as the 11th best in the country
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona volleyball program’s 2011 signing class was charted as the 11th best in the country today by Prepvolleyball.com.
UA’s six-player class should stock pile the Wildcats with talent for seasons to follow. Among the standouts in the class are USA A2 collegiate and junior national team member Madison Kingdon and Under Armour All-American setter Chloe Mathis.
Last week, Kingdon, the player of the year for the state of Arizona, was named to the USA A2 all-tournament team after her stellar play at the U.S. national championships in Dallas.
Additionally, providing needed depth in the middle will be Halli Amaro and Rachel Rhoades. Amaro, considered the top middle in Southern California, along with Rhoades are each ranked among the top 60 2011 recruits.
Rounding out the freshman class is Shaquillah Torres and Taylor Arizobal. Torres, an ESPN CalHiSports.com Athlete of the Week, and Arizobal are both long, athletic point scorers for Saddleback VBC.
The Pac-12 conference is well represented in the Prepvolleyball.com rankings with nine teams among the top 25 ranked including four in the top 10. Washington (4) leads the way followed by UCLA (5), California (6), USC (10), Arizona (11), Arizona State (19), Utah (20), Oregon (21) and Stanford (23).
The Wildcats will begin the 2011 season in Hawaii taking on Wichita State in a four-team tournament August 26-28.
