LSU Volleyball Team Preview Part 3: Setters
 
BATON ROUGE – LSU volleyball has racked up a 115-38 record to go along with the nation’s 11th best winning percentage and is one of only 20 programs nationally to collect five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances since 2005.
 
Under the direction of reigning SEC and AVCA South Coach of the Year Fran Flory, the Tigers took their championship tradition to the next level in 2009, not only claiming the program’s fifth straight SEC Western Division crown but LSU’s first overall SEC title since 1991.
 
Third in a four-part series previewing the upcoming season takes a glance at what LSU fans can expect from the Tiger setters this fall.
 
With the departure of All-SEC First-Team and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention performer Sam Dabbs, LSU will undeniably have a hole to fill in one of the most crucial position on the court.
 
The good news is senior Brittney Johnson has experience waiting in the wings and has distributed 835 assists during her first three seasons with the Tigers. Her athleticism and versatility offer LSU’s attack multiple looks on the front row. The Baton Rouge native proved able to run the offense efficiently in a 3-2 setback to No. 5 Stanford during the 2009 season opener while filling in for Dabbs.
 
Freshman Shelby Pursley joins the Tigers out of Winter Springs High School in Florida where she received two All-Central Florida First-Team picks and was named Seminole County Player of the Year in 2009. She also was chosen to PrepVolleyball.com’s Academic All-America First Team and was a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship. 
 
“Both Brittney and Shelby bring something unique to the table,” Flory said. “There’s no doubt that Brittney continues to improve for us and clearly understands the expectations that are required to be successful at the setter position on this level. Shelby is not only gifted as an athlete but is a tremendous student who owns a tremendous work ethic that will be a great addition for our program.”

University of Memphis Volleyball Team Adds Transfer Holly Fong to 2010 Roster

Fong transfers to Memphis from High Point University

 

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The University of Memphis volleyball program added transfer setter Holly Fong, head coach April Jauregui announced today.

 

“Holly joined our team in the spring,” said Jauregui. “She came in and was an immediate fit with our team. I am excited to add an experienced setter to our roster.  Having her come this spring allowed her to train and get accustomed to our system. She brings a calmness and smartness to the court.”

 

Fong transfers to Memphis from High Point University where she was a two-year letterwinner as a setter. A native of Sebastopol, Calif., Fong played sparingly as a freshman, but took over the starting setter role as a sophomore in 2009.

 

The 5-7 Fong, started in all 33 matches for the Panthers in 2009 and set a team-high 1211 assists and averaged 10.01 assists per set. She reached 50 assists five times and posted 14 double-doubles to help HPU to 17 wins. Fong added 58 kills and 33 aces on the offensive side of the net. Defensively, Fong picked up 286 digs (2.36 digs/set) and made 23 total blocks.

 

In her two seasons at High Point, Fong played in 138 sets and made 35 starts in 43 matches. She totaled over 1300 assists and 64 kills, while racking up 317 digs and 15 double-doubles.

LSU Volleyball Team's Sam Dabbs Tabbed Appalachian State Assistant Coach

BOONE, N.C. – Former LSU volleyball setter Sam Dabbs was hired by Appalachian State as an assistant coach Wednesday as announced by the school.

 

“We are extremely excited for Sam,” head coach Fran Flory said. “She will be a wonderful addition to the Appalachian State volleyball staff just as she was an excellent addition to our program. Sam was truly our coach on the court and her experiences as a player will help her to be a successful coach. The Appalachian State staff is outstanding and she’ll fit right in.” 

 

Dabbs, a two-year letterwinner for the Tigers after transferring from Louisville, was an instrumental part of LSU’s 2009 SEC championship team that put together an impressive 25-7 record. The All-SEC First-Team performer fueled LSU to over a .300 hitting percentage on 15 occasions and distributed 11.33 assists per set, good enough for second in the SEC and 18th nationally.

 

Dabbs also recorded 12 double-doubles en route to AVCA All-South Region and All-American Honorable Mention accolades. She finished with a career-best 64 assists to go along with 11 digs against Texas A&M during the NCAA Tournament.

 

For her career, Dabbs racked up 2,025 assists to rank seventh in program history. LSU compiled a 17-6 record when Dabbs dished out 40 or more assists and made a pair of NCAA appearances.

Under Flory, the defending five-time SEC Western Division champions are one of only 20 programs in the nation to appear in the last five NCAA Tournaments. Penn State Volleyball Players Megan Hodge, Alisha Glass Make Impact on U.S. Women’s National Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Feb. 3, 2010 – Penn State women’s volleyball seniors Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) and Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.) competed with the U.S. Women’s National Team on Tuesday, Feb. 3 in a training trip to China. The Evergrande Volleyball Club dealt Team USA a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) loss in an exhibition match in Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.

Hodge led the U.S. women with 15 points all on kills, as well as nine digs. Glass contributed a kill, block and an ace as the starting setter. Head coach Hugh McCutcheon started Hodge at outside hitter.

The Penn State pair competed against former Nittany Lion Christa Harmotto who is one of two members of the U.S. Women’s National Team on the Evergrande roster. Harmotto tallied 10 points in the match. She had seven kills on 13 swings with two errors on .385 hitting and put up three blocks.

Glass and Hodge guided the Nittany Lion women’s volleyball team to an unprecedented third straight NCAA title in 2009, while Harmotto was part of the 2007 and 2008 championship teams. Glass and Hodge finished their Penn State careers with a 142-5 win/loss record at Penn State to be the winningest graduating class in program history.

Freshman Setter Caitlin Andrade Records Triple-Double For Spartan Volleyball Team

Moraga, Calif.—In just her sixth match in a Spartan uniform, freshman setter Caitlin Andrade has already joined an elite club in San Jose State volleyball history with a triple-double Wednesday evening in a loss at Saint Mary’s.

 

Andrade becomes just the second setter in school history to record a triple-double and the eighth player overall to accomplish this feat for only the 12^th time.  Andrade recorded 32 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills in the three-set match.

 

Ironically, the last triple-double in school history was recorded last year against Saint Mary’s at the Sacramento State Invitational.  Former setter Emily Burke had 40 assists, 15 digs and 10 kills.

 

“Caitlin did a real nice job for us tonight,” said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo. “She did a nice job offensively and dumping the ball when she needed.  She also had a nice setting match, especially with our middle attack, and had a good defensive night.”

 

The Spartans lost to Saint Mary’s Wednesday night, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17, at McKeon Pavilion.  The team hit .187 and recorded 58 digs.

 

Alex Akana led the team with 11 kills on 20 attempts and no hitting errors for a .550 hitting percentage.  She added three assists, one solo block and one dig.  Taylor Japhet added eight kills and three digs, while Kristal Tsukano had six kills and six digs.  Krista Miller started her first collegiate match and ended with three kills and two digs.  Katie Turner led the Spartans with 15 digs and two service aces.

 

San Jose State continues competition this weekend with two matches at the Molten/Hilton Garden Inn Classic hosted by California.  The Spartans face Eastern Washington Friday afternoon at 1 p.m., and the 13^th-ranked Golden Bears Saturday night at 6 p.m.

UT Arlington Mavs Finish Third Place, Volleyball Setter Raegan Daniel Named All-Tournament

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The UT Arlington volleyball team finished the Colorado State Hilton Classic in third place after a three-set loss to Ohio State, 25-10, 25-21, 25-17,  Saturday night in the final match of the tournament at Moby Arena. UT Arlington setter Raegan Daniel was named to the all-tournament team averaging 5.1 assists, 2.0 digs and 1.7 kills per set in three matches.

 

UT Arlington head coach Diane Seymour was pleased with the way her team competed against some elite teams this weekend.

 

“I’m very pleased with how we competed,” Seymour said. “We only had a few moments that I thought we could have been working a little harder and that is when they turned it around. It is a very good sign to see that we won’t give in when we are down.”

 

The Mavs started the first set slow with their first three points coming off Buckeye errors while three UT Arlington errors aided Ohio State to an 8-3 lead which forced a UT Arlington timeout.

 

The Buckeyes held the Mavericks to just two kills in the first set while taking a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-10 victory. UT Arlington hadn’t scored less than 11 points in a set this season. Ohio State, meanwhile, hit .733 (12 kills – 1 errors – 15 attacks) with three players tallying multiple kills.

 

UT Arlington looked like a different squad in the second set taking a 10-7 lead, which came after a 5-1 run that included two kills from Christy Driscoll, a kill from Daniel and two Ohio State errors.

 

Daniel finished the match with 14 assists, nine digs and four kills. Driscoll led the Mavericks with eight kills and collected three digs and one block.

 

“This is definitely the best I have seen Raegan play since she has been here at UTA,” Seymour said. “She is embracing that she can do more for her team. She blocked well this weekend and she also scored for us. She is taking a lot on her shoulders while trying to lead this team, and she is doing a very good job at it.”

 

The second frame went back and forth with five lead changes and nine ties before Ohio State finish with a 25-21 set victory. The Mavericks led 20-17 after Driscoll’s fifth kill of the set and that is when the momentum turned. At that point, Ohio State went on an 8-1 run to regain the lead and win the set.

 

The Mavericks were much improved in the second set with 12 kills and a .175 hitting percentage while notching an impressive 24 digs in the set. Alicia Shaffer and Daniel each had six digs while Eld-hah Kaswatuka had two kills and four digs.

 

“I’m excited about being selected All-Tournament,” Daniel said. “I thought our team worked really hard this weekend. We were going up against some tough opponents and tried to give them a fight.”

 

Ohio State’s offense proved to be too much for the Mavericks with 17 kills and a 250 hitting percentage in the third and final set. The Mavericks found themselves down by as many as 10 points in the third set (18-8), but battled back and cut the Buckeyes lead to five points (20-15) before Ohio State closed out the match with a 25-17 set victory.

 

“We have showed that we can play with some of the top teams in the nation,” Daniel said. “That gives us confidence going into conference. I think it is just a matter of working hard as a team in practice and continuing to build team chemistry.”

 

The Mavericks will have next week to prepare for their home opener hosting the UT Arlington Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, taking on UALR (11 a.m.) and Oklahoma (7 p.m.) at Texas Hall in Arlington.

 

Match Notes:

UT Arlington falls to 3-3 all-time against Ohio State with all six meetings coming on a neutral court... UT Arlington drops to 21-19 all-time against Big Ten opponents... It was Raegan Daniel’s first career All-Tournament team selection... Daniel’s 14 assists in the match move her into eighth place on the UT Arlington career list (1,100)... Daniel passes Dawn Foley (1995) who recorded 1,099 assists in one season with the Mavs... In CSU Tournament action, Daniel led the Mavs with a .389 hitting percentage (15-1-36) and 46 assists, and tied for the team lead with 15 kills and was third on the squad with 18 digs... Alicia Shaffer’s 11 digs led the team and are the most digs by a Maverick in a three-set match this season... Shaffer has led the Mavericks in digs three times this season and 18 times in her career... It is the 24th double-figure digs match in Shaffer’s career... Christy Driscoll posted a season-high eight kills and 22 attempts... UT Arlington averaged 12.7 digs per set in three matches over the weekend tournament... Bianca Sauls led the Mavericks averaged 2.56 digs per set (23 total digs) in tournament action... The Mavericks’ 43 digs against Ohio State are a season-high during a three-set match.

Kelsey Murphy Leads Clemson Tiger Volley ball Past Western Illinois in Three Sets

Tigers hit a season-high .400 in the three-set win.

CHICAGO – Setter Kelsey Murphy led the Clemson volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) win over the Western Illinois Leathernecks in the DePaul Challenge on Saturday morning. The Tigers improved to 4-1 behind a .400 hitting percentage and only nine total errors against the Leathernecks (2-5), who were coming off a win against host DePaul the previous night.

 

The story of the match was the Clemson offense, which was relentless throughout the morning. Cansu Ozdemir had a career high 10 kills in 18 attempts with no errors, and freshman Natalie Patzin was outstanding, recording a career-high 13 kills in 27 attempts. Alexa Rand also added eight kills and no errors, while Lia Proctor registered nine kills.

 

It was Murphy, however, that guided the Tigers to such a performance, notching 38 assists in only three sets, to go along with seven digs and five blocks. She may have been motivated by the fact that she stood across the net from her sister Bridget, how is a defensive specialist for the Leathernecks. Bridget recorded eight digs in the match, but was on the receiving end of an emphatic kill by Kelsey.  

 

In all, the defense held WIU to a .179 hitting mark, and recorded nine blocks. Didem Ege stretched her streak of double-digit digs to an even 50 matches. She had already picked up 10 by the end of the first set, and had 21 overall.  

 

Western Illinois came out strong in the first set, mounting an 11-8. Hoover didn’t like what she saw and called a timeout after a Megan Toczek kill. The Tigers responded with a 13-2 run to take command of the set. The Tigers netted 17 kills against only four errors to take the set, 25-17.

 

The second set was all Tigers, who recorded an incredible 21 kills and only three errors, of which  Murphy had 17 assists.

 

The third set was tight in the beginning. But, another well-time Hoover timeout trailing 13-8 sparked the Tigers to victory. Out of the timeout, the Tigers scored 14 of the next 16 points, including an 11-0 run led by Patzin, who had two aces and two kills in the run. Rand also added a pair of kills and blocks during the spurt.

 

The Tigers return to action at 7:30 pm central to take on host DePaul for the Challenge championship. Fans can follow the game live with livestats, and it will be broadcast through depaulbluedemons.com.

Czech Duo Helps Virginia Commonwealth Volley ball Team Blitz Campbell in Three Sets

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Michala Kvapilova (Liberec, Czech Republic) and junior Lenka Melicharkova (Zlin, Czech Republic) keyed a Virginia Commonwealth University offense that hit .321 on the way to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) sweep of Campbell Friday at the Jefferson Cup at the University of Virginia’s Memorial Gymnasium. 

The victory sends the Rams to a 5-0 mark and extends the school’s best start since the 2000 season. The Camels are 4-2. 

The match was Kvapilova’s first on the front row for VCU, and she didn’t disappoint. Kvapilova hit .304 and recorded a match-high 13 kills to spark the Rams. She also registered eight digs and two service aces.  The 6-1 outside hitter was limited to back row play in four matches last weekend with an abdominal injury. 

A setter, Melicharkova directed the Ram attack with 38 assists, and also provided six kills on 10 attempts. She added 11 digs. 

In addition to Kvapilova, senior middle Ivana Rich (Cumberland, Va.) hit .600 with 11 kills, while junior Mariel Frey (Lititz, Pa.) booked eight kills and a .286 hitting mark. 

Emily Werner led Campbell with nine kills. 

VCU meets Virginia Friday in the tournament nightcap at 7 p.m.

HONOLULU, Hawaii – After dropping the first set the No. 2 Texas Volleyball team responded with three straight victories to knock off No. 10 California, 3-1, Thursday night in the opening round of the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic. The 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-13 victory improved the Longhorns to 3-0 on the season, while the Golden Bears fell to 2-2. UT returns to action against No. 4 Hawaii on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. Hawaii Time (Midnight Central).

 

Texas fell behind early in the first set, but a 4-0 run fueled by a kill and a block from senior All-America outside hitter Destinee Hooker helped the Horns gain the advantage at the 7-6 mark. The Longhorns led until the 13-12 mark, when Cal put together four straight points to take a 16-13 edge that they would not relinquish. Senior outside hitter Hana Cutura carried the Cal offense late in the set with three kills and an ace that helped the Bears to a 25-21 win.

 

The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead in the second frame, using a pair of block assists from freshman outside hitter Bailey Webster to grab a 5-1 lead. Cal rallied to even the score, but Texas never surrendered the lead. UT took control of the match at the 13-13 mark when it put together a 9-2 run that was fueled by a kill and two blocks from junior middle blocker Jennifer Doris. The Bears rallied down the stretch, but a kill by sophomore middle blocker Rachael Adams closed out the set, 25-20.

 

Texas opened the third stanza on a 6-1 run and extended their run to 9-3 courtesy of three kills by Hooker. The Bears battled back to shrink the margin to 14-11 and kept the score tight with a block at the 17-14 mark. The Horns offense kicked into gear from that point on, closing out the set on an 8-2 run highlighted by three kills from junior All-America outside hitter Juliann Faucette that ended the game 25-16.

 

The Horns took command quickly in the fourth, recording three blocks that gave UT a 5-1 edge to start the set. An ace by freshman defensive specialist Cristina Arenas moved the edge to 10-4 and a pair of kills by Doris extended the lead to 16-9. Four kills by Faucette late in the game headlined a 6-2 run that closed out the set 25-13.

 

Post-Match Notes

·         Texas’ win over Cal moved its all-time record against the Golden Bears to 10-0.

·         In Texas’ victory it out-blocked Cal 20.0-to-10.0.

·         Ashley Engle recorded her second double-double of the season and the 31^st of her career with her 12-kill, 32-assist performance.

·         Destinee Hooker led all players with her 17 kills on .353 hitting.

General statement: I thought we got a lot out of this match, playing Cal which is one of the best programs in the country. They have two of the best left side hitters in the country and I thought they started off well and out-played us in the first set. Overall we were able to sustain our level of play and eventually we wore them down and frustrated them with our block. We got good touches and had good balance in our offense in the end.

 

On Ashley Engle’s performance: I think balance and keeping teams out of rhythm are very important in terms of a successful team. Ashley is arguably one of the better setters in the country with her ability to keep teams off balance. With the pin hitters that we have we can create a lot of seams and opportunities for her to be aggressive. She got a little bit more involved tonight and that allowed us to be more successful with our entire offense.

 

On the team’s blocking and depth: It’s nice to be able to look to the bench and have confidence to bring every player into the match. When we needed a little bit more size with (Jennifer) Doris, she came into the match and did a really nice job. She had a great practice yesterday and came in and provided a spark for us. I was also very impressed with Cristina (Arenas). She hasn’t seen much action, but tonight she stepped in against a great opponent and served some very nice scoring runs for us. It was nice to see us get better on the things that we worked on as a team this week in practice. That is the big key for us. If we can continue to make those improvements from practice we will continue to get better as a team.

 

On the difference between the first set and the final three sets: Cal is a very good team. We made a few too many attacking errors in the first set in terms of not challenging high at the net. I thought we made better attacking selections in the final three sets. I thought our passing steadied out and ultimately I thought our block wore down their hitters.

 

On Sydney Yogi’s performance: I loved her game. Sydney is getting better and better. The battle for the libero jersey between her and Heather (Kisner) has been very tight throughout the preseason. She is definitely going to get her shot at some point. She has a great attitude and she is our best defender. Both of our liberos are great and they are dedicated to nothing else other than winning.

Meet the Colonel Volleyball Team: Setters

IBODAUX –  Head coach Chris Laird and the Nicholls State University
volleyball team know that in order for their fast-paced, ball control
offense to stay effective this season, the Colonel setters will have to
remain on top of their game.  Fortunately, with the school’s all-time
assists leader returning for her senior campaign and a crop of younger
setters pushing for court time, Laird likes the way his setting crew is
coming together ten days out from the 2009 season opener.

“The setter is a person that knows that she is going to look for her
middle and make sure she gets the set first then looks to the right side
hitter because she runs a fast offense, too,” Laird said.  “In our
system, our setter needs to develop a relationship with the hitters.
She needs to adjust for them.  They need to know what she’s doing, and
she needs to know what sets they can hit and in what scenario.  That can
only come with time.  That’s why Amy looks as good in camp as she ever
has.”

Amy is senior Amy Whitehead, who has amassed 2,701 career assists in
three seasons to take over the top spot in Nicholls State history.  The
San Antonio native has averaged just over 900 assists per season and
will need just 299 to become the first Colonel ever with 3,000 assists.

As the season opener draws near, it appears Whitehead will once again be
the go-to playmaker for the Nicholls’ setting crew.

“In the setting position, as of right now, Amy Whitehead is still our
starting setter,” Laird said.  “She’s put together some big numbers
while she’s been here, and she’s been great for our offense.”

Fortunately, for the Colonels, a pair of younger setters have also
established themselves in preseason camp.

While Whitehead will be counted on to set the pace for the Nicholls
attack, she will be backed up by sophomore Jordan Karst and freshman
Nancy Taylor.  Karst returns after contributing 96 assists in just 31
sets, and Taylor brings an Alabama State Volleyball Tournament MVP
pedigree to the team

“Jordan Karrst was good in spots for us last season.  She has had a good
preseason camp and she could push for some time.  She gives us a lot of
depth and versatility at that position,” Laird said.  “We have a very
solid newcomer in Nancy Taylor.  She has been doing a great job of
pushing the other two setters, but I think that experience is going to
get her in the long run.  But she’s doing better every day, so she could
get an opportunity to play.”

However, for now the Colonels’ setting duties remain in the capable
hands of Amy Whitehead.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball program has a history of going with a setter and relying on that player to lead their team on the court. Redshirt junior setter Raegan Daniel (Arlington, Texas) is the seventh setter in UTA history of this kind, where she is looking to lead the Mavericks charge for the second straight year.

 

After a redshirt season in 2006, Daniel spent her freshman season learning from former three-year letterwinner and starting setter Emily Nedderman before taking the reigns at the setter position in 2008.

 

“Last year was my first year to have game experience as a starter,” Daniel said. “So I have more experience now and I feel more comfortable playing with my teammates.”

 

Daniel was one of only two Mavericks last season to start and play in all 30 matches and 114 sets. She finished the season with 934 assists, the most for a first-year starting setter in the Mavericks program since 2001 (Heather Dunn).

 

Success for Daniel relies on the players around her who are able to score points on offensive attacks. The good news for Daniel is her first year as the setter is going to be just the start for her working with many of her teammates who all return besides one starter from last season.

 

“Alicia (Shaffer) is a big vocal leader for us and she works hard,” Daniel said of some key players for the Mavs. “Bianca (Sauls) is probably our strongest hitter. She knows how to put the ball away and how to score for us.”

 

Daniel is an all-around talent as she not only led the team in assists, she ranked third in digs, (234) and fourth in kills (117) and total blocks (46).

 

“I try to give my hitters and everyone on the team confidence,” Daniel said. “I just really try to make good passes and put the ball in a good position for our hitters.”

 

Daniel and the Mavs will get their first preseason trial run with the Blue/White Scrimmage at Texas Hall on Sunday, August 23, at 3 p.m.

 

UT Arlington opens its regular season next Friday, August 28, at the Illinois State Redbird Classic against Oral Roberts in Normal, Ill.

LSU Volleyball Team Season Preview Part 3: Setters

 

BATON ROUGE – LSU volleyball has dominated the SEC Western Division by racking up four consecutive division championships. The Tigers are 28-2 against its fellow division foes since 2006, including 20 straight wins. 

LSU also has accumulated four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and posted an impressive 90-31 record during its four-year run. The Tigers .743 winning percentage ranks 14th nationally. With a core of seasoned veterans and a crop of talented newcomers, LSU is more than capable of building on its championship tradition during the 2009 season.

Third in a four-part series previewing the upcoming season breaks down what LSU fans can expect from the Tiger setters this fall.

LSU’s tandem of Sam Dabbs and Brittney Johnson returns for 2009 after passing out a combined 11.18 assists per game last season. Both players contribute valuable understanding of the game and possess familiarity with the LSU hitters after working extremely hard during the offseason. 

Dabbs, the 2008 Louisiana Newcomer of the Year, contributed six double-doubles which included LSU’s first triple-double since the 2003 season. She registered 40 or more assists on 10 occasions and ranked inside the SEC’s Top 5 in assists per set.

Johnson split time at setter and offered versatility to the Tiger lineup taking swings from the right side. The Baton Rouge native was the only player to post over a kill, an assist and a dig per set last season. She also showcased her athleticism as a consistent blocker. 

“Sam and Brittney are both very solid setters that can take us to the championship level,” Flory said. “We feel that Sam has acquired a much better feel for our hitters’ strengths after having a season under her belt. Brittney is a very intelligent offensive player who responded very favorably and gained valuable experience as we adjusted the tempo of our offense during the spring.”  

LSU plays host to the annual Purple & Gold Scrimmage Saturday at the Maravich Center. Admission is free and the Tigers will host a Kid’s Clinic at 5 p.m. prior to the scrimmage.
