Lobo Volleyball Loses To CSU, 3-0
New Mexico drops to 0-2 in MWC play
FORT COLLINS, Colo. --- It was a tough night for the University of New Mexico volleyball team in Fort Collins on Thursday. Colorado State beat the Lobos, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18. Junior Taylor Hadfield led the Lobos with nine kills as UNM dropped to 8-5 overall and 0-2 in Mountain West Conference action.
The teams battled in the first set with neither team pulling away from the other until late in the set. The first lead of more than three points came at 24-20 on a Lobo attack error. Colorado State finished off the set, 25-21 on a Lobo miscue.
In the second set, CSU let 6-4 and then went on a 5-0 run, 11-4. The Lobos had several errors and could not get back on track, as CSU won 25-15.
The third set was very similar with the teams tied 9-9. CSU went on a 9-3 run to build a 19-12 lead. UNM matched the Rams point for point the rest of the set, but could not close the gap, 25-18.
The Lobos continue Mountain West Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Wyoming. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
