Junior middle blocker totaled 26 kills, a .435 attack percentage and three blocks at ORU Classic
TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball junior middle blocker Hannah Stout earned Most Valuable Player honors of the ORU Classic last weekend, and on Tuesday she was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office.
The Offensive POW is the second C-USA weekly honor of Stout’s career. She earned C-USA Offensive POW honors on Sept. 8 of last season.
“We’re most excited about this honor for Hannah,” Tulsa Head Coach Ed Allen said. “She has been one of our most consistent players over the last two years. She consistently hits at a high percentage for us. She is not flashy or dynamic, just consistent with her ability to put the ball away.”
Stout was named the MVP of the ORU Classic after helping Tulsa to three-set sweeps in all three matches of the weekend and to the tournament championship. She averaged 3.25 kills per set in the three matches, hit a .435 attack percentage for the weekend (26 kills–6 errors–46 total attempts), scored 27.5 points for her team and was crucial in the middle on defense blocking or touching balls at the net and channeling attacks to the back row.
In the tournament championship against UALR, Stout had her biggest match, slamming 13 kills in 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage, and added a block, scoring 13.5 points for the Hurricane. In a rivalry match against Oral Roberts in their home gym, she smashed nine kills, hit .389 and scored 9.5 points, leading the Golden Hurricane to a three-set sweep.
The Golden Hurricane’s home opener is tonight at 7 p.m. against Arkansas. It plays host to the Radisson Tulsa Airport Invitational on Sept. 11-12.
