Cats fall to No. 3 Washington
No. 18 Arizona suffers its third loss on the season, falling 3-0 to the highly-touted Huskies
SEATTLE – The No. 18 Arizona volleyball team suffered its third consecutive defeat on the season as it fell to No. 3 Washington 3-0 in Seattle Saturday night.
A night after being swept in Pullman by the unranked Washington State Cougars, the Wildcats (12-3, 1-3) found themselves up against the Huskies who haven’t dropped a set against any opponent all season.
In set one, the Huskies kept Arizona at bay most of the game. Paige Weber had 11 assists in that first game for Arizona but the Huskies proved to be too tough as Arizona could only muster 12 total kills in the set.
Attempting to bounce back, Arizona looked to be hanging with the Huskies early in set two before a 7-1 run opened things up and Washington took the set, 25-13. Tiffany Owens had three kills in the set for the Cats while Kindra Carlson led the Huskies with seven kills in the respective set.
Set three was more of the same as Washington never let Arizona get into its style of play and was victorious in the set 25-16, and the match overall 3-0. It’s the second match in a row in which Arizona has been swept.
The Cats will look to bounce back next weekend as they host Oregon State and Oregon on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available for purchase by clicking here or calling 621-CATS.
