BATON ROUGE –
The LSU volleyball team recorded a trio of two-set sweeps over South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss to wrap up its spring season Saturday at the Maravich Center Auxiliary Gym.
The defending SEC champions also claimed the league’s beach tournament earlier in the spring.
“This was an outstanding way to finish our spring season,” head coach Fran Flory said. “Every aspect of our team seemed to come together at the same time which made us very efficient and very successful. Every player made significant improvement over the course of the semester. We are very excited as a group about what we accomplished this semester. At the same time, we also understand this is a starting point for our fall season, not an ending point.”
LSU put together an impressive 25-7 record in 2009 en route to the program's first SEC regular season title since 1991. Under Flory, the defending five-time SEC Western Division champions are one of only 20 programs in the nation to appear in the last five NCAA Tournaments.
