UT Arlington Volleyball Team Announces 2010 Schedule

ARLINGTON, Texas – Head coach Diane Seymour has announced the schedule for the 2010 UT Arlington volleyball season. Two home tournaments at Texas Hall and 15 home matches highlight the Mavericks 2010 slate that includes 30 regular season matches.
UT Arlington opens the 2010 season at the Sooner Legends/Nike Invitational, Aug. 27-28 in Norman hosted by Oklahoma. The Mavericks face Miami (Fla.) for their season-opener on Friday, Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. UTA will then take on Oklahoma and Wichita the following day.
The Mavericks open their home schedule at Texas Hall with the UT Arlington Hilton Invitational, Sept. 3-4, welcoming UALR, Louisiana Tech, UT-Pan American and Mississippi State for weekend competition.
UTA completes its road non-conference schedule at the Wyoming Tournament where they will face Northern Colorado and Wyoming on Friday, Sept. 10, and will take on Boise State and Portland on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Laramie, Wyo.
UTA returns to its home court to finish the non-conference portion of its schedule hosting the UT Arlington Maverick Classic as they welcome UTEP, Prairie View A&M and North Texas.
The Southland Conference schedule features a new format where the Mavericks will start with four road matches, return to Texas Hall for four home tilts and will then repeat the first-half cycle by going on the road for four matches before ending the season at home for a four-match homestand.
The 16-match Southland schedule begins with road matches at UTSA (9/23) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9/25) the first weekend before heading to McNeese State (9/30) and Lamar (10/2).
UTA opens league action at Texas Hall hosting defending Southland Conference Tournament champion Texas State (10/6). The following home match will feature defending regular season champion Central Arkansas (10/9) before Stephen F. Austin (10/14) and Sam Houston State (10/16) visit the Mavs on the fourth weekend of the conference season.
UT Arlington will then hit the road for their final road swing of the regular season with matches at Texas State (10/20), Northwestern State (10/23), Stephen F. Austin (10/27) and Sam Houston State (10/30).
The Mavericks will close the regular season with four straight home matches as they welcome Southeastern Louisiana (11/4), Nicholls (11/6), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11/11) and UTSA (11/13).
The top eight teams from the regular season will meet for the Southland Conference Tournament, Nov. 18-20, at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas, on the campus of Sam Houston State.
