The Tigers open the trip in Rome where the team will spend two days
sightseeing in the city, including a tour of The Vatican. The team is
also set to travel to Florence, San Marino, Pesaro and Venice, where the
squad will have opportunities to learn more about the history and
culture of each stop.
Among the vast amounts of sightseeing, the Tigers will also compete
against international competition while on the trip, opening with a
match against the National Team of San Marino Republic on June 7.
Following the match against San Marino, Auburn will take part in a
four-day tournament in Pesaro, Italy. The team opens with a match
against the Scavolinia Club, Italy’s reigning national champion, on
June 8. The tournament continues with a June 9 match-up against Verde
Ouro and a June 10 match against Falconara. The Tigers close out the
tournament with a match on June 11 against a team yet to be announced.
“This trip to Italy will give us much needed international experience
and a wonderful chance to bond in an unbelievable setting,” head coach
Wade Benson said. “Our goal for the trip is to be able to adjust to
many different systems without losing our composure or our own
identity."
