STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Denver incoming freshman Colleen King was named the Routt County Female Athlete of the Year by the Steamboat Pilot & Today newspaper this past weekend. King is the first athlete from Steamboat Springs High School to win the award, which is in its third year.
“It is a tremendous honor for Colleen,” said DU head coach Beth Kuwata. “She has worked extremely hard during her high school career. She had to battle through some illness this past year, while still continuing to play volleyball and basketball. She is a tough kid and competitor and we are excited to have her be part of our program.”
King will join the Pioneers for the 2010 season. During her time at Steamboat Springs High School, King was an All-Conference selection three consecutive seasons, the recipient of the Team MVP award in 2008 and 2009 and was named All-State her senior season.
