Eastern Washington University Volleyball Team Adds One More to 2010 Roster
Texas native Esther Warren rounds out Eastern’s 2010 squad
The Eastern Washington volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of Esther Warren, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Fort Worth, Texas. Warren, who graduated from Richland High School in May, joins four others as part of the talented 2010 recruiting class.
Warren was a three-year letter winner for the Rebels, and was honored as the team’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009. She was also selected to the 5A All-Academic All-District team for four-consecutive years.
“Esther is a true natural athlete,” said EWU head coach Miles Kydd. “She is very physical and probably has the best vertical jump of all our outside hitters. She will be a great addition to our program, and if she can adapt to the training at the Division I level, she has potential to make an immediate impact on the left side.”
In addition to her preparatory career, Warren has played three years for the Tejas Volleyball Club in Forth Worth, Texas. This past spring, TVC won the NorthEast National Qualifier -- earning an automatic bid to the coveted 2010 Junior National Championships in Reno, Nev., held June 24 - July 3. As the starting left-side hitter for the 18s team, Warren played a pivotal role in that qualifying run. Her team played its first round of matches in Reno on Wednesday (June 29), winning all three by scores of 2-1, 2-0, 2-0.
