Iowa Cyclones Volleyball Team Opens Sixth Season Under Christy Johnson-Lynch
AMES, Iowa - Five years ago Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch headed over to the Forker Building on campus for her first fall practice as head coach of the Cyclones. There was no air conditioning. There was no volleyball-only locker room. There were, however, uncertainties. How times have changed. Johnson-Lynch enters her sixth season as Iowa State's head coach, having led the Cyclones to four-straight NCAA Championship appearances and three-straight Sweet 16 berths. The Cyclones practice in Hilton Coliseum now, meaning no more sweltering August two-a-days. There is a locker room dedicated to volleyball and new team offices under construction which will rank among the best in the volleyball. On Monday, Johnson-Lynch and Iowa State began preparations for the 2010 season, which includes lofty expectations and never before seen depth on the roster. Johnson-Lynch took a few minutes to talk with cyclones.com about the upcoming season. To view the video, click here. |
