Cowgirls Picked To Finish Third In East Division
FRISCO,
Texas-- McNeese State's volleyball team has been picked to finish
third in the East Division by both the league's coaches and SID's
(Sports Information Directors) in the 2010 preseason polls as released
by the league office here Wednesday.
Texas State is the preseason favorite and enters the season as the
defending Southland Conference Tournament champions. The Bobcats have
won four of the last six conference tournament titles.
The Cowgirls will be led by first year head coach Terry Gamble, who
is inheriting a team that posted a 17-13 overall record and a 5-11
Southland Conference record a year ago. The Cowgirls return 10
letterwinners including four starters. The letterwinners returning are
senior Ayshin Vasser, juniors Katrina Mica, Katie Kennedy, Erin
Huckabay, Nicole Bowden and sophomores Brittany Williams, Whitney
Ellisor, Taylor Bustamento, Priscilla Massengale and Becky Bekelja.
Gamble has six newcomers joining the team including Missouri S&T
transfer in Danielle Kracl. The freshmen include Regina Trapp, Amy
Moyer, Sarah Behrens, Lanie Lissard and Kelly Borel.
The Cowgirls' season begins Aug. 27-28 with a tournament at the University of Texas.
