McNeese State Volleyball Cowgirls Travel To Northwestern State and Central Arkansas This Weekend
McNeese State's volleyball team controls their own destiny but will have to pick up a couple of victories on the road in order to be one of the eight teams that will make up the Southland Conference Tournament field (Nov. 19-21). The top two teams in each division will earn a spot along with the next six teams in the league with the best record, no matter what division.
McNeese (12-15, 6-6 SLC) is currently in third place in the East Division, one half match behind second place Lamar (11-12, 7-5 SLC) with both teams facing the same opponents on the road in the next two weeks. Lamar will also face Northwestern State and Central Arkansas this weekend and Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State next weekend.
The Cowgirls enter tonight's 7 p.m. match at Northwestern State on a four match winning streak which ties the longest of the season and have won six of its last eight matches. McNeese has also won 12 of its last 13 sets and have won its last three matches in straight sets.
During the four match winning streak, McNeese has dropped only one set, that being in a 3-1 win against Lamar in the match that began the winning streak.
The Cowgirls will look to defeat the Demons for the second time this season after picking up a 3-1 win in Lake Charles on Oct. 14.
Priscilla Massengale continues to lead the Cowgirls with 264 kills for an average of 2.93 per set. Setter Becky Bekelja leads the team and ranks second in the SLC with 9.92 assists per set.
