University of Dayton Volleyball Team Hosts Butler In Opening Rounds of NCAA Volleyball Tournament
Flyers Face Butler On Friday At 6 p.m. ET
DAYTON, Ohio – No. 12 Dayton will host Butler in the opening round of the NCAA Volleyball Championship at the Frericks Center beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
As the overall 14 seed, Dayton (27-3) earned its highest NCAA Championship seed in program history while hosting the First and Second Rounds for the third time in the last four years. Butler (21-9), Dayton’s former Horizon League rival, earned the Horizon League’s automatic bid to the dance as winners of 12 of its last 14 matches.
Ohio State (22-11) and Lipscomb (24-6) will be the second match at the Frericks Center on Friday. The Buckeyes are one of eight Big Ten teams in the field of 64. The Bisons of Lipscomb earned the Atlantic Sun’s automatic bid for the third time in four years and return to the Frericks Center after facing Dayton in the First Round of the 2007 Championship.
Third-seeded Stanford is the highest seed in the Dayton Region, which feeds into UD Arena on Dec. 10 & 11. The Cardinal will host Albany in the opening round and the winner will face Cal State Fullerton or Colorado State.
