Dayton Volleyball Player Lindsay Fletemier Signs Pro Volleyball Player Contract
The December Graduate Signs With Puerto Rican Powerhouse Criollas de Caguas
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – Three-time All-American and former University of Dayton volleyball player Lindsay Fletemier signed a professional contract in December to play for the Puerto Rican-based Criollas de Caguas in the Federación Puertorriqueña de Voleibol (FPV or Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation).
The first match of Fletemier’s professional career will be on Jan. 26, 2011 as Criollas de Caguas plays in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The regular season lasts until mid-April. Fletemier joins 2004 AVCA Co-Player of the Year Stacy Gordon as additions to the Criollas roster in 2011. The Criollas, which translates to English as natives, have won seven national titles in 32 seasons of competing in the FPV.
Fletemier, who graduated on December 18, became the first Dayton volleyball player to be named to multiple AVCA All-America teams as a recent Second-Team selection this season and a Third-Team selection in 2009. The Garden City, Mich., native also earned back-to-back Atlantic 10 Player of the Year recognition in 2009 and 2010 after being one of just three NCAA Division I players to rank in the top 15 in both blocks per set and hitting percentage this season – fourth in blocks per set (1.54) and 11th in hitting percentage (.405).
