C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For East Carolina
The Pirates serve up the season Aug. 26-27 in Greenville, welcoming Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian to Minges Coliseum for the 2011 East Carolina Classic. ECU will take on the Bulldogs in its opener Friday night before closing out the event the next day. The meeting with the Owls marks the first between the schools.
The next weekend, East Carolina travels north to Charlottesville, Va., for the Jefferson Cup. While in the Commonwealth State, ECU will battle Virginia and Long Island in addition to California. The Bears blew through the NCAA Tournament last season, winning their first five matches 3-0 until dropping a three-set affair to Penn State in the title bout.
Non-conference play continues closer to home Sept. 9-10 as the Pirates head to in-state rival UNC Wilmington's Hanover Hall for the UNCW Beach Bash. Another ACC rival in N.C. State awaits as part of the field which also includes Charleston Southern as well as the host Seahawks.
East Carolina ends the non-league portion of its slate a week later but also begins league play by taking part in the Thunder Invitational.
C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For Houston
The 2011 season will open, Aug 26-27 at the Athletics/Alumni Center with the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup, featuring three teams that the Cougars will be facing for the first time in program history. In addition, all three finished in the top 75 of the 2010 final rankings. The tournament begins for UH against Lipscomb, a 2010 NCAA Tournament team, in the final match of the tournament's first day. Houston will then face Xavier and Central Arkansas in the final day of the tournament.
UH will continue the season with an exhibition match against the Israeli National Team, Aug. 31 at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
After opening the season at home, Houston will travel to Champaign, Ill., for the State Farm Classic, Sept 2-3. It is shaping up to be the toughest non-conference tournament of the season for the Cougars. They will compete against Dayton, Illinois and 2010 foe Tennessee. All three competed in the NCAA tournament and were ranked in the top 15 of the season's final poll.
The final non-conference tournament of the season will send the Cougars to Lexington, Ky., Sept. 9-10 for the UK Invitational. Tournament host, Kentucky reached the postseason and finished ranked in the top 60 in 2010. UH will also meet West Virginia and 2010 opponent, Loyola Marymount.
C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For Memphis
The Tigers will travel to San Francisco, Calif., Carbondale, Ill., and Greensboro, N.C. for preseason tournaments in preparation for a 20-match conference schedule.

"This year's schedule provides the team with a lot of great chances to garner significant wins," says Volpe. "The non-conference portion not only includes two of the nation's premier volleyball programs in Stanford and Hawai'i, but also several teams that are nationally recognized as strong NCAA caliber programs and against schools that are competitive in their respective conferences."
Rice begins 2011 by hosting the Rice Invitational I and the Rice Invitational II. At the Rice Invitational I, the Owls face Delaware on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. and then host Stanford, on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. The Blue Hens and the Cardinal will match-up on Saturday, Aug. 27 for a 4 p.m. tilt.
The Rice Invitational II (Sept. 2-3) features matches vs. Houston Baptist (Sept. 2), UT-San Antonio (Sept. 2), and Georgia Tech (Sept. 3). Rice then bids adieu to Houston and says aloha to Hawai'i for the first road trip of the season. The Owls will compete at the University of Hawai'i's Verizon Wireless Volleyball Challenge, Sept. 8-10. The Owls face the Rainbow Wahine on Sept. 8, Cincinnati on Sept. 9, and Pacific (Sept. 10).
The next weekend, Rice competes at Stephen F. Austin's volleyball tournament. The Owls will play North Dakota on Sept. 16 and Sam Houston State and SFA on Sept. 17.
C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For SMU
The Mustangs will open the regular season on Aug. 26-27 in Norman, Okla., at the Nike Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma. SMU will face host Oklahoma on Friday night, with matches against Missouri State and Oral Roberts on Saturday. The Sooners advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual champion Penn State.
SMU will host its first home match of the season against TCU on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Doubletree Invitational in Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs will take on Lamar at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday before wrapping up the tournament against Alabama at 7 p.m.
Seifert and her team will then travel to Long Beach, Calif., Sept. 9-10 for the second of three non-conference road tournaments. SMU will face NCAA Tournament qualifiers in host Long Beach State and Utah State, as well as PAC-12 foe Oregon State.
The Mustangs will wrap up the non-conference schedule on Sept. 16-17 in Austin, Texas at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational. SMU will face a pair of NCAA Tournament qualifier UTSA and national semifinalist Texas, as well as Santa Clara in the final test before opening Conference USA competition.
C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For UAB
The Blazers will play non-conference tournaments in each of the season's first four weekends, starting Aug. 26-27 with the UAB/Samford Tournament in Birmingham. UAB will square off with Akron, Arkansas State and UNC Asheville in that opening weekend with all matches held across town at Samford.
UAB continues tournament play Sept. 2-3 in Martin, Tenn., at the First State Skyhawk Invitational (UT Martin, Illinois State, Stephen F. Austin); Sept. 9-10 in Kennesaw, Ga., at the Owls Classic (Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State); and Sept. 16-17 in Omaha, Neb., at the Creighton Classic (McNeese State, Drake, Creighton).
C-USA Preseason Volleyball Tournament Schedule For UCF
Before its meeting with the Trojans, UCF will open its season Aug. 26-27 by hosting the UCF Classic at The Venue at UCF, where it will face-off against South Alabama, Michigan State and North Florida.
The Knights will follow its home-opening tournament with its only road event of the year, the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament, Sept. 2-3 in Ft. Myers. There, the Knights will take on Dagenais' former squad, USC, Furman and host Florida Gulf Coast, before returning to Orlando for two-straight home tournaments to close out its non-conference schedule.
From Sept. 9-25, the Black and Gold will square-off with UNC Greensboro, Pittsburgh, Florida Atlantic and USF in non-conference action, while also hosting UTEP for its C-USA opener on Sept. 16 during the UCF Challenge.

The Miners open 2011 as host to the El Paso Sports Commission Volleyball Invitational on Aug. 26.
UTEP will then travel to Ithaca, N.Y. (Sept. 2-3), Beaumont, Texas (Sept. 9-10) and play a single match at I-10 rival NM State on Sept. 13 before opening league action at UCF on Sept. 16 as part of the Town Place Suites/UCF Challenge.
The Orange and Blue return home after a three-week hiatus to face Tulsa on Sept. 23.
